“We see the repeated renewal of our EcoZert certification as a clear sign that we are on the right track with our ESG strategy,” emphasises Märtens Managing Director Bernhard Funke. Our own photovoltaic system on the roof of our production hall in Flensburg, electric charging points on our premises, and electric car and bike leasing for employees are just a few elements of a comprehensive package that has been implemented as part of the strategy. Marvin Weigel, Head of Supply Chain at Märtens, sees further positive effects: “Ultimately, the EcoZert also strengthens our customer loyalty. It provides the assurance of having a reliable partner at one’s side in Märtens, one that thinks and acts with a long-term perspective.”
To obtain the EcoZert quality seal, a company must successfully pass an annual audit, which includes a questionnaire and an examination of the annual financial statements. High standards are set in relation to sustainability and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Among other things, the efficient use of resources, social initiatives, good corporate governance and the credit rating are assessed in detail.
This renewed award confirms that Märtens has once again met the quality standards in all areas. For us, however, this is no reason to rest on our laurels. We are constantly seeking further opportunities for improvement to contribute to a healthy environment and a positive working atmosphere. Managing Director Bernhard Funke recently reported in the magazine “Standpunkte” on how Märtens is successfully driving the energy transition within its own company despite the shifting political landscape.
