As a northern German company, we are delighted that our colleagues at the IHK are committed to promoting the economic future of our region.
Märtens Managing Director Bernhard Funke is a member of the General Assembly and Chairman of the Business and Education Committee. "I am involved in the plenary assembly, which is also known as the "parliament of business", and in the Business and Education Committee because the development of the region and the diverse local economy are important to me," explains Mr Funke. "I would like to get involved in this. The issue of skilled labour is omnipresent and I would like to play my part in developing solutions for the challenges of the future, supporting people in their career choices, improving training and promoting the integration of foreign skilled workers."
In favour of good training and economic cooperation
Our Area Sales Manager Steffen Schwiewager, for his part, is actively involved in promoting training. He explains: "I am on the examination board for industrial clerks and the main examiner for the oral examinations. I take on this role because I wanted to give something back and because it is a very interesting and varied challenge." Mr Schwiewager's tasks include preparing and taking the oral examinations, the subsequent assessment and conducting feedback discussions. He is also responsible for approving and commenting on the applications and project topics submitted, as well as reviewing project work.
Marvin Weigel, who heads the Purchasing & Logistics department at Märtens, has been part of the "Network for Foreign Trade" organised by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for several weeks. "Colleagues from various companies in the IHK district meet every three months to exchange ideas and talk about current topics," he summarises.
