Cay Wilkens goes into retirement

After more than four decades at Märtens, we bid farewell to our esteemed colleague Cay Wilkens on his well-deserved retirement.

Specialist for plastic belts

On 17 May 1985, Cay began his career at Märtens as a fabricator in the plastic belt department. At that time, our company still had its own mechanical engineering department for conveyor systems, so Cay not only worked in the factory, but also regularly travelled all over Germany. He was particularly enthusiastic about the on-site installations: installing the belts under real conditions, the variety of machine types and the direct contact with customers were what made his work so appealing to him.

In recent years, Cay has worked as a foreman in the plastic belt department and has supported his team significantly with his expertise and many years of experience. He was also a valued contact at customer training courses - especially when it came to endless splicing of plastic conveyor belts with our welding presses. With his practical know-how and his calm, patient manner, he made it easier for many customers to get started with processing our belts.

What did he always particularly like about Märtens? The collegiality in the team and the continuous technical progress. Most recently, he showed great interest in familiarising himself with the operation of our new digital cutters for processing plastic and curved belts.

New phase of life

A new phase of life is now beginning for Cay. Boredom is not to be expected: more time for his great passion, the SG Flensburg-Handewitt handball club, is just as much on the agenda as extensive travelling, tending to his garden, trips in his convertible and, of course, the odd whiskey tasting.

Dear Cay, we would like to thank you very much for your decades of dedication, your reliability and your expertise, as well as for your open and helpful manner. We wish you all the best for your new chapter in life and look forward to seeing you again soon!
